Travel Soccer at SMSA

At SMSA, Travel Soccer is a competitive program for U9 & older players, where teams compete against other area teams in the Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League (CPYSL). Travel Soccer provides a safe, fun environment where our players can learn the value of teamwork, build character and self-confidence, and develop good sportsmanship.

Tryout Information

All players trying out for a team are REQUIRED to attend the tryout on Sunday, April 12th (this includes returning players). There will be one additional tryout that week during team practices. Players are strongly encouraged to attend both tryout sessions.

All players MUST attend the tryout for their true age group which is determined based on their birth year. If your child has played up on an older team in prior years, and/or if you are expecting your child to be considered for placement on an older team for the upcoming soccer year, your player must also attend the tryout time for the older age group. Under no circumstances may players try out for or play down to a younger age group. You will need to indicate any additional age groups your player will be trying out for when you register your child for tryouts.

SMSA Tryouts 2026-2027

Welcome! We are excited that you have decided to tryout at SMSA for the Fall 2026 /Spring 2027 soccer seasons! We require all players wanting to play travel soccer to try out for our teams.

1. Players MUST pre-register for tryouts prior to the deadline – April 6th. There is no cost to tryout for SMSA, however we do require that all players attend tryouts.

2. All players trying out for a team are REQUIRED to attend the tryout on Sunday, April 12th (this includes returning players). There will be no makeups. Tryouts will be held at Spring Meadows Park, 640 W. 1st Street, Boiling Springs, PA 17007. Please refer to the chart on the website for your scheduled tryout time. There will be one additional tryout that week during team practices. Players are strongly encouraged to attend both tryout sessions. All players MUST attend the tryout for their true age group which is determined based on the school year. If your child has played up on an older team in prior years, and/or if you are expecting your child to be considered for placement on an older team for the upcoming soccer year, your player must also attend the Sunday tryout time for the older age group. Under no circumstances may players try out for or play down to a younger age group. You will need to indicate any additional age groups your player will be trying out for when you register your child for tryouts.

3. Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled tryout time(s) to check-in at the registration table. Players should wear soccer cleats and shin guards for the safety of all players, and should also bring water and a soccer ball. Players will be provided with a tryout number. Players can warm up near the pavilion until they are directed to the appropriate field for tryouts to begin.

4. Each player will be notified of tryout results via email as soon as possible following tryouts. Generally, team placement emails are sent 3-4 weeks after tryouts. Following notification, parents will have a limited amount of time to confirm or decline their player's position. Spots that are declined or are not accepted by the deadline will be offered to the next player on the waitlist, if applicable. To accept a spot on the team, parents will need to log into their account and complete player registration in full. This includes submitting specific documents relating to your player's registration (including state issued birth certificate/proof of citizenship and headshot photo) as well as payment of the registration fee. Please note that SMSA does not issue refunds for registration fees (unless there is not a place for a player on a team). ALL players for SMSA travel will need to purchase a uniform package at an additional cost, if they currently don't have a uniform.
